February 5, 2003—The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) has announced that it has reached an agreement with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to host the annual meetings of three of AIAs Professional Interest Area (PIAs) Knowledge Communities (KCs) at World Workplace, Oct. 19-21, 2003 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
The three PIA KCs, similar in structure to IFMAs own vertical industry councils, which will meet in Dallas are the Interiors Committee, Corporate Architects and Facility Management. The AIA also will create and contribute one Design/Collaboration track of educational sessions to be incorporated into IFMAs World Workplace program, and members of AIA will be able to join IFMA members in all educational sessions, the Expo, keynote addresses and other World Workplace events.
“AIA and IFMA have had ongoing discussions for the past five years about a collaboration, and we expect their presence at IFMAs annual conference will mark the beginning of many cooperative efforts in the future,” IFMA President and CEO Dave Brady said.
