IFMA to launch Dutch CFM

August 15, 2001—IFMA Holland will launch the Dutch version of the Certified Facility Manager programme next month with the first exam taking place in November.

“In developing the CFM programme in Dutch, IFMA is rapidly setting the pace in individual certification in Europe. The programme is already available in six other countries,” said Fred Kloet, manager of IFMA Holland.

The second exam will take place next year at World Workplace Europe in Paris. Both members and non-members of IFMA can take part in the one day exam which will require applicants to answer 300 questions.

IFMA Holland says the reason for setting up a Dutch version of the exam is that the generations of FM graduates “have reached a strategic business levels where there is a growing market for titles such as CFM”. It also offers Dutch FMs an opportunity to interact and connect with colleagues internationally.

To take the Dutch exam, applicants need to have a degree from an IFMA Holland recognised programme, preferably in FM or a related subject as well as three to eight years FM experience depending on the relevance of their qualifications.

Apart from gaining further FM knowledge, the goals of the Dutch CFM programme are to establish a standard for professional practice, to promote the added value of an FM career and to influence the future direction of the industry.
