April 11, 2005—Indala has developed multi-technology, multi-application credentials for Microsoft employees, which enables network (logical) as well as building (physical) access control, the company says.
The project specifies a new 128KB smart card module combined with a NET operating system for smart cards, and incorporated FlexEnterprise RFID technology, according to Indala, a leading security technology company.
The new Indala credential is an upgrade of the legacy Indala smart card, and the new card is compatible with existing systems.
One of Microsofts project objectives was to permit secure authentication and validation to users wherever they are located. The credential, according to the software giant, is far more secure for remote access sessions and offers the flexibility for users to work on multiple machines, increasing security and productivity.
Microsoft credential deployment takes place via decentralized identity offices. To issue a card, both local ID verification and centralized certificate authorization must be approved. Identity officers are able to program both the physical and logical access rights to the Indala card, providing the user a single, secure credential for the workplace.
