September 24, 2003—Indus International has signed a new license to host a comprehensive enterprise asset management (EAM) solution for Western Refining Company of El Paso, Texas. By implementing the system in a Web-based environment via IndusHosting, Western is able to bring the unparalleled EAM functionality of Indus PassPort on line at its recently acquired refinery rapidly and without a large upfront capital investment. Western purchased the refinery in El Paso from ChevronTexaco.
The refinery, which has a capacity of 107,000 barrels per day, required a hosted solution for a variety of reasons. First, the hardware on which the refinery’s existing EAM system ran resides in the ChevronTexaco Headquarters. Second, Western needed to put an EAM system in place rapidly to minimize disruptions to the refinery operations. Western regarded the Indus Hosted offering as “the ideal solution” because it allowed the refining company get the PassPort system up and running in a matter of weeks, rather than months. Western also explains it did not have to make a major investment in IT infrastructure or personnel.
