DataThing, a modular furniture system that offers high-speed voice and data access, has been certified by the Anixter Levels Channel program. The panel-to-panel cabling system is being distributed by Anixter, a distributor of data communications products. DataThing puts plug-and-play bundles of voice and data cabling into systems furniture to make them information friendly. It also simplifies the costly proceedure of reconfiguring workspaces; the system eliminates the need for a company to reroute or replace cable every time it reconfigures its office.
DataThing was developed jointly by Haworth, Inc., and KRONE, a creator of voice and data communications technology. The cabling system has been tested in Anixter’s UL certified Levels Lab and exceeds the channel performance requirements of Category 5e and Anixter’s Levels XP 6. The system is designed to support future Gigabit Ethernet and ATM networking technologies. The reusable panels, electrical wiring and communications cabling all snap together. DataThing is compatible with most Haworth panel-to-panel modular furniture.
