Informative Graphics introduces low-cost 3D CAD viewer

June 15, 2005—Informative Graphics Corporation (IGC), a leader in content visualization, secure publishing and collaboration technology, has announced that Modelpress Desktop is in open beta release. ModelPress Desktop is a low-cost, simple to use application that views a variety of 3D file formats in a common user interface, the company says. Formats supported include AutoCAD 3D DWF/DWG/DXF, Inventor, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, IGES, STL, VRML, OpenHSF, XGL, SAT, 3DS and IGC’s content secure 3DF format.

ModelPress Desktop is a format extension of IGC’s ModelPress Reader, a free 3D Viewer to view STL, VRML, HSF and 3DF file formats. 3DF files can be created by the free ModelPress Publisher. All three products are available for download.

ModelPress Desktop allows interactive conversion of 3D models to IGC’s Visual Rights protected 3DF format. Users can interactively publish portions of the model assembly, with cutaways, dimension markups, or as pre-exploded representations.

ModelPress Desktop is available today as a free open beta for download from the modelpress.com web site. The expected release date for the software is end of the Q3 2005. Pricing for ModelPress Desktop is scheduled at $99 US.
