Insurance premiums about to rise in UK construction industry

September 7, 2001—The cost to UK contractors of insuring construction workers against injuries and accidents appears to be on the verge of doubling because of the industry’s poor safety record, according to a report in workplacelaw.net. Serious accidents and fatalities are at a ten-year high, and one report says individual claim awards have been rising at a rate of 12% a year.
