Intellibot Robots still scrubbing West Point barracks floors after 5 years

July 10, 2006—The US Military Academy at West Point was one of the first facilities in the nation to use floor cleaning robots, according to Intellibot Robotics, supplier of the 12 scrubbers cleaning eight barracks and four academic buildings. Further, says the company that develops and manufacturers robotic commercial floor cleaners, the Intellibot scrubbers have enjoyed an extremely high uptime average, resulting in consistent and high-quality cleaning in a high-traffic facility.

“Even after five years of constant use, the robots look brand new—a direct result of the care and attention by key staff trained to maintain the machines,” says Douglas C. Mann, West Point’s Directorate of Housing & Public Works. “Under the direction of our Custodial Work supervisor, Jim Green, the Intellibot scrubbers are working five days a week in buildings all across the academy’s campus.”

“We’re saving money, getting consistent cleaning quality and conserving manpower. The Robots are definitely helping us to work smarter,” adds Mann.

In the five years since West Point joined the robotics revolution, Intellibot Robotics has continued to develop more sophisticated navigation and cleaning features for its scrubbers, and it has introduced a robotic vacuum that is in high demand. Leading national building service contractors as well as healthcare and educational facilities managers throughout the country now uses the company’s innovative robotic technology.
