October 15, 2003—New energy economizers, guaranteed and proven to reduce fuel and electric consumption by up to 30%, are cutting costs and decreasing energy consumption for Jerome Home, a private, nonprofit residential senior living facility in New Britain, CT. IntelliCon, the line of energy saving controls developed by Intellidyne, work without affecting the buildings comfort level and operate in conjunction with existing building management systems.
Jerome Home is a multi-level, 72,000-square-foot senior facility. After re-evaluating energy management methods and determining the significant savings that IntelliCon would provide, the home installed the IntelliCon economizers in May on all five existing central air conditioning systems, two heavy commercial steam boilers, four light commercial hot water boilers and a walk-in refrigeration unit.
IntelliCon works by monitoring and analyzing the load on a heating or cooling system, in real time, and then dynamically modifying the way that the system is normally controlled or cycled. This modification results in a more consistent comfort level and more efficient use of the system, with significant reductions in energy consumption, wear and tear on the equipment, maintenance requirements and pollution. Once installed, the IntelliCon energy saving controls are virtually maintenance-free and require no seasonal programming.
