March 30, 2005—International Electronics, Inc. has released RF Gateway-Direct Connect, a communications gateway that extends data transfers between fleet vehicles and the base station up to one mile, according to the company.
Suitable for large facilities or multiple facilities, the product permits greater flexibility and range in the management and control of material handling equipment, according to the company.
RF Gateway-Direct Connect is a product option in IEI’s PowerKey Fleet Management System, which provides control and data collection automation for industrial vehicles. PowerKey’s built-in scripting program automates daily checklists of industrial vehicles and helps insure OSHA compliance.
The PowerKey RF Gateway-Direct Connect establishes RF communications for data transfer between vehicles and the PowerKey base station computer. Using a 900 MHz spread spectrum frequency-hopping technique, communication with each vehicle is impervious to environmental interferences, according to the company.
