Internet links provide information and resources for Katrina aftermath

September 7, 2005—As recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina begins, many organizations have set up Web sites with information, advice and resources for both the victims of the hurricane and those involved in cleanup and recovery efforts.

Here are a few.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has a list of Web sites that can help people find missing those that are still missing.

FEMA also has information about building or rebuilding to reduce the risks of wind and flood.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has specific information about the recovery efforts, including Web sites on disease prevention, electric hazards, and clean-up safety.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a site for businesses and contractors with resources to donate or sell to the relief efforts.

The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) has information about resources available to small businesses that were hurt by the hurricane.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has information about health hazards from food and water, advice about mold and clean-up, information about dealing with stress, and more.

The Red Cross has news, safety tips and other information.
