Invensys adds fully programmable controllers to its building automation system

March 25, 2005—Invensys Building Systems has added a series of advanced, fully programmable BACnet controllers to its popular I/A Series Building Automation System, which, according to the company, makes it the industry’s first open, interoperable solution with a complete range of BACnet, LON and ‘native’ manufacturer-specific controllers to choose from.

This addition gives end users flexibility to create a building automation system to meet any environment challenge, according to Invensys.

Four new models of MicroNet BACnet controllers are available.

The MNB-1000 MicroNet BACnet Plant Controller, designed to function either in stand-alone mode or as part of a BACnet building automation system (BAS) network, can be used in a variety of applications including central station air handlers, VAV air handlers and cooling towers.

The MNB-300 MicroNet BACnet Unitary Controller provides a wide range of control strategies for packaged rooftop, heat pump, fan coil, unit ventilator and other applications, either in stand-alone mode or as part of a BACnet building automation system (BAS) network.

The MNB-V1 and V2 MicroNet BACnet VAV Controllers control pressure-dependent and pressure-independent terminal boxes with or without reheat capabilities.

Like all the I/A Series MicroNet controllers, the new BACnet models are fully programmable using the Visio based WorkPlace Tech Tool, which enables the user to program the controller with drag-and-drop graphic representations of common control algorithms and functions and “wizards” that automate controller configurations, notes the company. In addition to simplifying the programming process and improving its speed and efficiency, the new WorkPlace Tech Tool also greatly simplifies the creation, storage and retrieval of important documentation, the company says.
