ISO survey on 14001 environmental management system focuses on small and medium-sized businesses

February 23, 2005—The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has launched an online survey to determine how it can make the 14001 environmental management system more usable for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The ISO survey aims to measure the extent to which smaller firms are implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) procedures and their experiences of doing so. The organization hopes to use the results to make it easier for small and medium-sized organizations to gain the benefits of such systems.

The brief online survey asks about the use or non-use of ISO 14001, ISO 14004 and (EMS), and is designed to collect information from firms that have been through the process and others that have decided against it. The survey does not ask for confidential information and respondents’ identities will remain confidential. The closing date is March 8, with a report on results available online after May 1.
