October 12, 2005—ISS Singapore was awarded “The 2005 Building & Services Company of the Year Award” at the Clean Asia Show Singapore 2005 in September. The award recognizes outstanding achievements and contributions to the cleaning industry and is organized by Clean Asia, a publication for the cleaning and sanitary industry in Asia.
According to the award’s citation, ISS grew from a $10 million company in 1995 to $87 million in 2004 and provides employment to more than 4,000 Singaporeans. ISS was praised for the innovative 2-in-1 mopping system it introduced to the healthcare industry, for its use of IT in quality checks, and for its model efforts in championing the training of cleaners.
ISS now embarks on an initiative to transform single-skilled cleaners into multi-skilled facility services specialists. For this effort, ISS is the first company in the industry to be given a job recreation grant by the government in Singapore.
