May 27, 2005—Itron Inc. has won a contract with American Water (AW), for Itron’s Enterprise Energy Management (EEM) Suite of software, Itron says.
The EEM Suite will provide American Water with operational improvements and cost reductions through improved bill processing, auditing, energy procurement and facility management.
AW, the largest water utility in the United States, is working to reduce annual spending on electricity and natural gas, and implement innovative ways to reduce the impact of rising energy costs. Working with Accenture, American Water defined a vision for an internal energy management program and supported it with a business case. To support the program with enterprise energy management software, AW and Accenture evaluated several market offerings to identify the optimal solution for AW’s requirements.
