March 7, 2008—JDA Software Group, Inc., recently announced the general release of its JDA Fleet Management version 7.4.1, powered by Manugistics, a transportation and logistics management software application designed to provide integrated enterprise transportation planning, robust asset management, route optimization and master delivery schedule creation.
The newly enhanced version of JDA’s Fleet Management solution embeds ESRI’s ArcGIS Network Analyst, a powerful geographic information system (GIS) and analysis toolset that enables users to build more efficient and environmentally friendly distribution networks. It also provides seamless integration with Tele Atlas Multinet and DynaMap digital map and logistics data, says the company.
JDA Fleet Management uses a constraint-based optimization approach to create detailed work plans to manage fleets based on shipment requirements. Its goal is to lower freight costs and maximize asset utilization, while maintaining delivery schedules and high levels of customer service.
ArcGIS provides accurate distance calculation and travel path analysis to create optimized routes across the entire distribution network. It also enables users to dynamically model travel path conditions, taking into account such real-world constraints as turn restrictions, speed limits, height restrictions and traffic conditions at different times of day.
Integration with ESRIs ArcGIS Network Analyst is plug and play and allows not only a rapid implementation and deployment of the JDA Fleet Management solution, but allows users to respond faster and more efficiently to changes in their business and distribution network thereafter.
JDA Fleet Management is part of JDA Software’s complete suite of transportation and logistics management solutions, designed to help shippers, carriers and transportation service providers more effectively manage their multi-modal logistics networks.
