July 13, 2026 — Looking for a hospital facility management or healthcare project planner position? In June, hospitals added 9,000 jobs. Further, employment in health care continued its upward trend (+22,000), but at a slower pace than the average monthly gain of 38,000 over the prior 12 months, according the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report released on July 2, ahead of the holiday.

Professional and business services continued to trend up in June 2026 (+36,000). The industry has added 172,000 jobs since a low in October 2025. Overall, the labor market grew less than expected in June, with employers adding 57,000 new positions and unemployment dropping lower to 4.2 percent, as hiring continues. However, the Labor Department revised down the healthier job gains in April and May by 74,000, indicating the labor market was weaker than previously thought this spring. In effect, April’s job count was 148,000 (not 179,000) and May’s figure was 129,000 (not 172,000).
