June 8, 2005—Cernium, Inc., a leader in behavior recognition software and intelligent video surveillance, has announced that its Perceptrak intelligent video management system is being used at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, as part of a recent security upgrade at the university’s Homewood campus.
Cernium’s Perceptrak is part of a new network of cameras installed by iXP Corp., the primary consultant and solution architect for Johns Hopkins.
Cernium’s Perceptrak software is a proprietary technology designed for integration with CCTV systems to provide real-time behavior recognition and content analysis. The product analyzes live events that are being monitored by a CCTV system and identifies potentially dangerous or suspicious human behaviors, incidents or objects and alarms security staff at the moment the event is occurring.
Perceptrak allows for more accurate and timely detection of suspicious events, is capable of monitoring larger areas without adding additional security staff, and enables security personnel to focus on fewer CCTV monitors.
