May 26, 2003—Johnson Controls has been awarded a $3.8 million contract to install a Metasys building management system, a fire alarm system, laboratory controls, and smoke purge system in a new state-of-the-art DNA laboratory at the Bellevue Hospital Campus in New York City. Johnson Controls was selected partially because of the ability to complete the project more than 24 percent under the allotted budget.
The crime lab facility will consolidate existing forensic activities conducted at separate sites into one new 15-story facility. This facility will enable high sensitivity DNA analysis to be introduced for the first time for use in property crimes, explains Johnson Controls. In addition, the building will house all necessary support laboratories and storage space along with a new training center. Johnson Controls is expected to begin installation in April 2004.
