July 30, 2003—National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) has recognized Johnson Controls, Inc., as an Energy Service Provider (ESP). Johnson Controls is one of only 10 companies to earn NAESCO’s highest accreditation level.
The ESP accreditation certifies that Johnson Controls offers energy supply solutions, such as energy strategy development, energy rate analysis, and energy rate negotiations on a consulting basis. Because Johnson Controls doesn’t own energy sources or affiliate itself with any utility provider, the company is unbiased when recommending energy rates and sources for its customers.
To quality for ESP accreditation, companies must first meet NAESCO’s requirements for an ESCO. Typically, ESCOs develop, install, and finance projects designed to improve the energy efficiency and maintenance costs for facilities over a specific time period. Johnson Controls underwent a five-month application process to receive the ESP accreditation. The company submitted a formal application to NAESCO’s committee of industry experts and underwent an audit of its technical competence and business practices.
