January 21, 2004—Johnson Controls has expanded and re-engineered its VG1000 series ball valve line to offer greater application versatility, improved temperature control, and lower installed cost.
The VG1000 ball valve line now provides a full range of half-inch valves in a wide selection of Cv’s in each pipe size. When paired with Johnson Controls M9000 series actuators, the VG1000 line offers more than 2,000 valve/actuator combinations. The redesigned valve includes new features that improve temperature control and expand the range of applications. A new flow characterization disc provides an equal percentage flow characteristic in a wide range of Cv’s, optimizing control of a heating or cooling coil.
Lower installed cost is made possible through the availability of two trim levels; the economical chrome plated brass ball with nickel-plated brass stem is positioned for hot or chilled water applications and has a fluid temperature rating of 23 to 203F. A model with stainless steel ball and stem is available for chilled water, hot water, or up to 15 psi saturated stem and carries f fluid temperature rating of 23 to 250F. Both models can be used with up to 50 percent glycol solutions.
The products, explains Johnson Controls, have been tested for more than 200,000 cycles in iron-oxide contaminated water to provide 15 to 20 years of maintenance-free operation. A new rugged M9000-520 valve linkage is also available for most applications to provide excellent thermal isolation while lowering cost.
