August 22, 2003—Johnson Controls, Inc., has issued a $12,000 grant to Grafton Public Schools to improve heating and ventilating systems at Grafton Middle School. The contribution is the result of a Johnson Controls Educational Achievement Giving Program grant request made by Grafton Public Schools earlier this year. Improvements are expected to be complete in October 2003.
The program requires teachers and students to be actively involved in the funded projects. The students at Grafton Middle School will have a hands-on learning experience before, during, and after the project is complete. They will measure performance of the systems before work begins, identify problems in need of attention and repair, learn about ordering and tracking equipment and labor costs, and measure the performance of the systems after the Univent systems are rebuilt.
