December 23, 2002—Johnson Controls has expanded its security offerings with an advanced high-speed visitor management system that can collect, verify, and store visitors’ information. The Fast-Pass system, manufactured by Security Identification Systems Corp. (SISCO), is targeted to facilities with a high volume of visitors and employees, such as government buildings and corporate headquarters.
The SISCO Fast-Pass system can be configured to collect personal information from a variety of sources such as a driver’s license, passport, or business card. Once the document is swiped or scanned, the system enters pertinent information in a database and produces a photo identification badge within seconds. The system also has the capability of authenticating official documents such as passports and drivers’ licenses by verifying the embedded technology and other markers on such documents, to determine whether they have been tampered with.
In addition to improving security and decreasing liability, Johnson Controls says that the system increases the efficiency of security personnel by processing information and generating badges more quickly than could be accomplished using a manual log book. Moreover, once a person’s information is stored in the database, that individual can go to a dedicated kiosk or personal computer workstation in the lobby and use a personal ID document to generate a new badge—with the appropriate restrictions.
In a multi-tenant building, Fast-Pass can maintain a separate database for each tenant. For more information visit SISCO.
