April 30, 2003—Johnson Controls has secured a comprehensive facilities management contract renewal with the Vanguard Group, a mutual fund firm and provider of company-sponsored retirement plan services. The multi-million dollar contract extends the current 10-year relationship between Vanguard and Johnson Controls by five years.
Under this contract, Johnson Controls will continue to provide strategic facilities management including operations and maintenance, mechanical services, janitorial services, and project management in Vanguard’s owned facilities in Pennsylvania. The contract encompasses 12 buildings measuring 1.7 million square feet throughout its 155-acre headquarters campus.
Outsourcing facilities management allows Vanguard to focus on its core business of providing low-cost mutual funds. The company says it has realized greater operating efficiencies, improved indoor environments, and measurable business benefits during the 10-year relationship with Johnson Controls.
Vanguard was recently recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” for the third consecutive year.
