February 15, 2002—United Rentals, an equipment rental company, recently signed a three-year consulting contract with Johnson Controls.
Johnson Controls will help United Rentals reduce the cost of operating and maintaining its buildings and related infrastructure, and reduce risks associated with the safety of its facilities. With more than 500,000 individual equipment items, United Rentals reportedly has the largest fleet of rental equipment in the industry. The company serves construction and industrial companies, manufacturers, utilities and municipalities.
As part of its new contract, Johnson Controls will gather building systems equipment and vendor data from each of United Rentals approximately 740 branch locations. The data then will be consolidated to simplify procedures and resources for the company across all of its regions. In addition, Johnson Controls Global Operations Center located in Atlanta will offer round-the-clock assistance for the United Rentals branches providing rapid response for repairs and service to sites, buildings, and related systems.
