Johnson Controls wins federal UMCS worldwide contract worth up to $200M

September 19, 2003—The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Ala., has awarded Johnson Controls a five-year contract to install and maintain Utility Monitoring and Controls Systems (UMCS) in federal facilities around the world. The UMCS II contract is an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract valued at up to $200 million through 2008.

The UMCS II follows the 1997 UMCS I contract for building systems design services and installation, a $140 million, five-year contract. The UMCS II contract provides engineering, installation and service support for controls, fire alarm, security SCADA, mechanical and electrical systems in new and existing federal facilities worldwide. The expanded scope under the UMSC II contract will increase the potential amount of work Johnson Controls can do for federal government agencies.

Under the UMSC contract, agencies may utilize the Johnson Controls Metasys building management system. Johnson Controls explains that the state-of-the-art system performs by seamlessly integrating environmental control, energy management, fire management, electronic security, access control, maintenance management, lighting control, SCADA and overall facility monitoring in all types and sizes of buildings across entire sites.
