KeyCorp awards expanded FM contract to Johnson Controls

October 18, 2002—KeyCorp, a financial services organization, has awarded an expanded facilities management contract to Johnson Controls to continue supporting its more than 1,200 bank branches, office buildings, and data centers.

The scope of this new project will include an overall strategic role in the management of KeyCorp’s building portfolio to include comprehensive facilities and property management, project management, construction and renovation management, critical systems services, and energy efficiency consultation.

This new contract totaling over $60 million for a 5-year period is an expansion of a 5-year relationship between KeyCorp and Johnson Controls focused on facilities and energy management. Johnson Controls has been instrumental in helping KeyCorp’s Corporate Real Estate Group save more than $40 million annually since 1997.

For example, a successful energy management plan helped reduce KeyCorp’s utilities budget by over $3 million annually through improved operations, updated building controls, energy awareness programs, and by capturing recent energy deregulation opportunities.
