April 9, 2004—KI has posted a replication of a Sound Transmission Class (STC) comparison on its Web site. The replication includes sound bites of both a human voice and a vacuum as well as an STC chart. The sound bites begin with a 0 STC in an open space, then climb to an STC of 48, which illustrates Genius architectural walls with solid construction, no slotting, flush ceiling channels and connectors, and a U-channel connection to the side wall. The industry average is a 39 STC.
In addition to its acoustic and aesthetic properties, Genius Architectural Walls also are environmentally friendly. More than 70 percent of the materials used during pre-manufacturing are recycled; it is 93 to 99 percent recyclable post-consumer, 100 percent reusable, and meets GREENGUARD testing requirements for indoor air quality standards. Designed by Eberhard von Huene & Associates, the product won a Gold Best of NeoCon award in the architectural products and finishes category at NeoCon 2002.
