April 5, 2004—KI announced its European division will launch X.AT Go seating, designed by John M. Weaver, and the Wharton Lectern at Spectrum, an annual contemporary contract products exposition held in London May 18-21, 2004.

X.AT Go, part of the X.AT seating family, is a versatile chair for training, meeting, conference, visitor or touchdown applications. The flip seat allows X.AT Go to nest for effortless storage. The chair provides enhanced ergonomic support with Vasco elastic memory foam on the seat pad for improved weight distribution and comfort, and Teknit fabric on the back. Teknit is a three-dimensional woven/knitted fabric that moulds to the contours of the user. For the ultimate in mobility, pair X.AT Go with KIs Hurry Up! nesting tables designed by Giancarlo Piretti.

The Wharton Lectern, introduced in the U.S. in 2002 and winner of the Platinum Award for Design Excellence (ADEX) from Design Journal, features a media control center that turns traditional lectures into interactive multimedia demonstrations.

Developed in collaboration with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the product features electronic height adjustments and a panel, produced by Crestron, to manipulate room lighting as well as controls for presentation applications, audio and video. The user also can access the Internet and LAN directly from the lectern. A built-in halogen note light, microphone, pencil rail, two swing-out cup holders, keyboard tray with sliding mouse surface and two user-accessible power outlets contribute to the lecterns user-friendliness.

The feature-rich Wharton Lectern is well suited for college and university markets, corporate auditoriums, large training rooms and conference facilities.

At Spectrum, the KI space also will feature other selections from its impressive portfolio such as a prototype of an innovative personal storage solution designed and developed in conjunction with UK designer Craig Jones, All Terrain Smart Carts developed with Capitol One, Hurry Up! nesting tables, the 700 Series credenza with an optional front clad in a veneer to match one of the tops of the new Trek table program (which also will be shown), and two lines of organizational tools, Gadgetz and Smart Solutions.
