February 27, 2006—The KI plant in High Point, N.C., recently achieved ISO 9001-2000 certification. The plant manufactures furniture solutions for KIs healthcare and college/university markets.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) updated the standards for certification of a Quality Management System in 2000, requiring an organization to make continual improvements, as well as changing the standards to be more customer-focused. The standard expects organizations to seek customer feedback to monitor satisfaction.
KI was subjected to a Management System Certification Audit in order to certify the plant under the ISO 9001-2000 standards. SGS Systems, based in North Rutherford, N.J., conducted a process-based audit that focused on the significant aspects, risks and objectives required by the standards. The audit process included employee interviews, observations of activities and a review of documentation and records over a one-week period.
KI manufactures innovative furniture and wall system solutions for educational, healthcare, business, commercial and government markets. For more on the company, visit its Web site.
