Kidde to replace faulty fire extinguishers

February 7, 2005—Kidde Residential and Commercial has determined that the threat area on certain black Zytel nylon valve assemblies installed into welded steel cylinders can undergo various levels of degradation under certain conditions over time. This could result in the valve assembly spontaneously separating from the steel cylinder during handling, inspection or maintenance.

As a result, Kidde is voluntarily replacing the subject models. These units are primarily designed for commercial and industrial applications, and most will be found in businesses and other commercial spaces. To find out more, see the service bulletin.
