Kier signs 120 million contract to service buildings in London

Kier Group plc has signed a 120 million contract with the London Borough of Islington to outsource the maintenance for the Borough’s buildings. The agreement, which is under the government’s “best value” program, is believed to be the first public/private partnership of this kind in the UK. Kier, an international construction and services company, will provide day-to-day repairs to 29,000 properties, gas maintenance to 18,000 properties, and will clean around 100 buildings, schools, and colleges. Kier has established a special joint-venture company, Caxton Islington Limited, to deliver the services. More than 500 Borough employees have already transferred their services to Caxton Islington, which will occupy the Council’s Ashburton Grove site near Finsbury Park.
