November 15, 2004—The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) has awarded Indoor Air Quality Certification to a broad array of major Kimball Office furniture lines.
Models within Kimball’s Xsite and Interworks systems furniture, Traxx horizontal mounting system, Footprint worksurfaces and storage components, upholstered and wood seating lines, and metal filing and storage units were tested to the stringent GREENGUARD Standards for low-emitting furnishings. The products were proved to have minimal impact on the indoor environment. They will undergo quarterly monitoring tests to ensure ongoing indoor air quality performance.
GREENGUARD certification enables architects and designers to achieve points for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) program. GREENGUARD tested and certified office furniture is a requirement stated reference for Credit 4.5 in the Indoor Environmental Quality section. To make LEED-CI submissions simple, GREENGUARD provides online, printable certificates for each GREENGUARD-certified product. The institute also publishes an online guide to GREENGUARD tested and certified products to help those in the building/design industry source low-emitting products.
