June 14, 2002—Unveiled during June’s NeoCon 2002 and a Silver Award winner in The Best of NeoCon competition in the category Workplace Technologies, the Wharton Lectern by KI is an advanced lectern and media control center. It is designed to enhance presentations from traditional lectures to interactive multi-media demonstrations.
Developed in collaboration with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton Lectern features electronic height adjustments and a panel to manipulate room lighting, as well as controls for presentation applications, audio and video. Users can also access the Internet and LAN directly from the lectern.
A push-button motorized lift system with a 9.5″-height range adjusts the lectern’s height from 37.5″ to 47″, which accommodates the fifth percentile of women to the 95th percentile of men. A built-in halogen note light, microphone, pencil rail, two swing-out cup holders, keyboard tray with sliding mouse surface, and two user-accessible outlets contribute to the lectern’s user friendliness. The lectern’s internal wiring can be easily accessed for repairs or upgrades through a sliding panel.
The Wharton Lectern was built by KI for use in Jon M. Huntsman Hall, the Wharton School’s new state-of-the-art instructional facility and is now available to other education institutions as well as corporations. Its design encourages interaction between professor and students, rather than act as a barrier. KI explains that even with the many high-tech features, the lectern falls within the same price range as a traditional upscale lectern. For more information, contact KI.
