Knoll wins lifetime achievement award from Brooklyn Museum of Art

November 12, 2001—The Brooklyn Museum of Art/Modernism recently honored leading furniture company Knoll Inc. with the Lifetime Achievement award. The award was presented during a preview of the 16th annual international fine and decorative arts exposition Modernism: A Century Of Art And Design 1885-1985.

The Modernism show features several Knoll designs from the Brooklyn Museum of Art’s permanent collection, most notably chairs by Mr. Risom, Ettore Sottass, Frank Gehry and Eero Saarinen.

For this exhibition, Knoll donated the 1938 Hardoy (“Butterfly”) chair, designed by Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy, Antonio Bonet and Juan Kurchan, from its own museum in East Greenville, Pennsylvania.
