January 18, 2006—Power Efficiency Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of advanced energy savings technologies for electric motors, and KONE Inc, aleading elevator and escalator manufacturer and service provider, have begun a joint effort to market the EcoStart energy saving soft starter to end users, including KONE’s client base of leading retail chains, hotels, airports and hospitals, the companies say.
As part of this initiative, the EcoStart has been installed in escalators at several Saks 5th Avenue stores.
The EcoStart soft start saves up to 40% of the electricity used by a motor once it is at full speed. It is based on Power Efficiency’s patented energy saving technology and is manufactured by Power Efficiency exclusively for KONE.
The EcoStart adjusts voltage and current to escalators and elevators 120 times per second, instantly delivering only the power required to meet the necessary workload. It is available for 208V, 480V, and 575V systems, regardless of motor manufacturer. Without the EcoStart, escalators and MG set elevators consume more power than necessary.
KONE is the world’s fourth largest elevator and escalator company. For more information on the company, visit its Web site.
