LAMA Books offers practical guide on refrigeration in HVAC systems

September 13, 2004—
•     Refrigeration for the HVAC Technician is a new publication from LAMA Books that gives HVAC technicians, as well as building owners, building operators, and FMs, a practical understanding of how refrigeration units work and how they fit into HVAC systems. The most recent addition to the series “The Indoor Environment Technician’s Library,” the book is especially useful for TAB, IAQ, and commissioning technicians.

Because problems in the HVAC system can be caused by refrigeration malfunctions, the trouble-shooting flowcharts in this book help technicians pinpoint the source of a problem and determine when they can fix the problem themselves and when to call a specialist.

The book also offers practical tips on how to maintain the cooling system at peak performance. It covers these areas:

  • Cooling in the central air handling system
  • Basic principles of refrigeration
  • Basic compression refrigeration cycle
  • Chillers and different types of compressors
  • Spotting problems
  • Maintaining the HVAC cooling system

A bonus feature is an English-to-Spanish Glossary of HVAC refrigeration terms.
