July 19, 2004—Landscape Forms is launching Austin, a new bench collection designed by landscape architect Robert Chipman, ASLA. Austin was inspired by architecture of the ’20s and classic modern furniture of the ’50s and expresses familiar themes in thoroughly contemporary terms. Its balanced lightness and substance is relaxed, yet refined, poised by never boring.
Austin is composed of minimal partsjust two extrusions create the seat and back in all versions. From its tapered slats to the winged shape of its end piece, Austin has a striking profile with dramatic cantilevers.
The metal version functions in outdoor settings, and a wood version slated for indoor areas. Both versions are available in backless and armless styles. In metal or wood, the bench offers a bright new concept to enhance seating in areas such as corporate and healthcare courtyards, atria, small-scale public areas, and private retail space.
