Latest version of DToolsX allows access to drawing file without AutoCAD

January 10, 2003—An updated version of DToolsX has been offered by CADology, which is part of the Autodesk Developer Network and offers software solutions for developers along with CAD software development consultancy.

DToolsX is an ActiveX DLL component that enables applications access to the DWG/DXF drawing file format through a simple object model without the need for AutoCAD. DToolsX allows drawing data (Attributes, Images, Xrefs, etc.) to be extracted, then updated in the case of Attributes, and the drawing to be saved. DToolsX can also convert between DXF and DWG.

A Trial Version of DToolsX 2003 is available for anyone who would like to evaluate the software. The company notes that it is a full, un-restricted version with only a “nag screen” showing the product is not licensed. This can be downloaded from the CADology Web site.
