March 17, 2006—The Security Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing US security by fostering innovation through collaboration, announced its first new major partnership of its 2006 campaign recently.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, one of the nation’s premier applied science laboratories, joined the ranks of The Security Network’s many distinguished member corporations, government organizations, non-profits, and individuals.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s advanced technologies are made available to companies nationwide to meet pressing national security needs. Through this collaboration, the laboratory will make its emerging technologies available to Security Network working groups for inclusion in future local testbeds and collaborative security strategies with other Security Network members.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory receives about $100 million in federal funding for homeland security technology research from the Department of Homeland Security. The collaboration of the growing Security Network and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory will ultimately benefit national security, since it will accelerate the rate at which the landmark laboratory’s technologies are introduced to the security marketplace, says The Security Network.
The agreement between Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and The Security Network also allows for potential licensing of mature security technologies developed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to members and sponsors of The Security Network.
