Learn successful building enclosure retrofit strategies used by this year’s IIBEC Consulting Award winners

March 23, 2026 — The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) awarded its Excellence in Building Enclosure Consulting (EBEC) Awards — now in their third year — to winners in four categories. The awards, handed out March 14 during the 2026 IIBEC International Conference and Trade Show in Sacramento, California, went to building enclosure consultants for the following projects:

  • Roofing: “Roof Recovery & Embodied Carbon Material Selection,” submitted by Milirsan Pugalendiran, RRO, of WSP Canada Inc. (Roof recovery strategies for a one-story industrial warehouse with two office pods measuring more than 1 million sq. ft.)
  • Waterproofing: “Park Place on Peachtree Plaza Redevelopment,” submitted by: Christopher Giffin, F-IIBEC, RRC, AIA, of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc. (Installing new waterproofing system, repurposing plaza spaces and redesigning two-story below-grade parking structure for 40-story concrete structure condominium building built in 1987)
  • Exterior Wall: “Raymond Desmarais Manor Deep Energy Retrofit,” submitted by Jennifer Hogan, REWC, CBECxP, RRO, LEED AP, Certified Passive House Consultant, of Pretium Engineering Inc. (Retrofit of through-the wall air-conditioning units in a 43-year-old brick building via buildout of interior of AC sleeve and installation of Passiv Haus-certified window that is airtight and provides insulation, resulting in sustainable affordable housing)
  • Building Enclosure: “Atrium on Commonwealth,” submitted by Christopher Grey, RRC, REWC, PE, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) (Roof replacement, garage repairs and multi-year façade reclad for four-story concrete building constructed early 20th century for Packard car company and later converted into apartments)

“The EBEC Awards are now in their third year, and I couldn’t be more excited about the quality and excellence of the building enclosure projects that have been awarded,” said IIBEC Executive Vice President and CEO Brian Pallasch. “It is exciting to see the promise of this new awards program come to life.”
