April 27, 2009—Lencore, a leader in sound masking systems, announced that the underlying LonWorks platform for its award winning Spectra i.Net Networked Sound Masking System has been approved as a global standard by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Lencore uses Echelon Corporation’s LonWorks technology (FT Smart Transceivers and the i.LON Internet server) to allow remote connectivity to Lencore’s networked masking system to make system adjustments to the masking sound level, and as a means of integrating the system to existing ISO/IEC 14908 LonWorks based building automation systems.
ISO/IEC standardization represents the highest level of standardization attainable and reflects the tremendous market support and adoption of the LonWorks platform by thousands of companies worldwide, notes the company. The acceptance of the protocol and key signaling technologies underlying LonWorks networks as ISO/IEC standards helps assure continued adoption of the platform.
Lencore Acoustics Corp. offers a full range of sound masking systems and products that include open platform, multi-drop networked, remote controlled, centralized, decentralized, stand alone, in-plenum, and direct field sound masking, music and paging systems. For more information, see the Web site.
