In the UK, the Improvement and Development Agency for local government (IDeA) plans to create a web-based system to manage payments and ordering; it is called the idea<marketplace>. Over 150 people from a wide range of organizations including ICL, Oracle, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Andersen Consulting, attended the recent Bidders’ Conference for the new initiative. The project is expected to save approximately 15% on the combined purchase and transaction costs of local government procurement.
The successful bidder will contract with the Local Government Information House, a subsidiary of IdeA. The deadline for proposals is October 16th.
