July 11, 2005—Orbit Radiant Heating has added a new, longer cable to its line of Nexans radiant heating cable. The TXLP1/2600/17 cable is designed for interior floor warming and space heating applications from individual rooms to an entire building, according to Orbit, a leading provider of high-quality electric radiant heating solutions.
The 512-ft. TXLP-2600/17 cable covers between 221 and 260 square feet, or at least 18% more than other existing models, according to the company. The result is that installers use fewer cables, saving both time and money. In addition, says Orbit, since the cable draws only a maximum of 11.3 amps at 230 volts, it can be connected directly to a thermostat, rather than a control panel, offering additional hardware savings.
The maintenance-free cable can be used in wet bed or slab installations, and in combination with the proper thermostat can be used with any type of flooring material, such as tile, hardwood, laminates, and carpet.
The cable is manufactured using a high-quality polyethylene-covered resistance wire core, a corrugated copper ground wire covered by a metallic sheath, and a rugged PVC covering that provides durable protection during installation and ensures a long operational life. The UL-listed cables are three times thicker in diameter than similar products and are designed to meet current NEC regulations when properly installed. The cables come with a 10-year warranty.
Pricing for TXLP/1-2600/17 cable starts at $902, which includes a programmable floor-sensing thermostat. Delivery, says Orbit, is normally three to five days ARO.
