September 20, 2006—IntelliMat, LLC, has selected Malibu Technologies as the primary manufacturer of its digital mat displays. Initial production is anticipated at 1,000 full-color, on-floor video products.
The IntelliMat is a wireless computer embedded in a thin mat made of lightweight thermoplastic alloy with four LCD screens, creating a 30-inch diagonal display with full multimedia capability. This means, says IntelliMat, lots of color, motion and sound from a high quality video display—right at the consumers’ feet, right in the store, and right at the point of purchase decisions. The video display can be seen clearly from more than 10 feet away.
The product can accommodate motion intensive content, such as streaming video, without blurring or distortion. Malibu is presently enhancing the screen’s contrast ratio, brightness, and viewing angle.
