January 15, 2007—Mannington Mills, Inc., and J&J Industries, Inc., have formed a joint venture for the purpose of manufacturing and applying modular carpet backing. The new venture is named Modular Carpet Systems, LLC.
The two firms have worked closely together for the past two years; Mannington has supplied modular backings to J&J under contract. Both are privately held companies that, they say, share many of the same values. The markets both serve are mostly complementary, with very little overlap and competition.
