July 27, 2005—Maplesoft, a leading provider of high-performance software tools for engineering, science and mathematics, has announced a partnership with the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), the largest professional society that focuses on undergraduate mathematics.
The organizations plan to develop a co-branded electronic placement testing product that will change how colleges and universities assess students’ knowledge of math, according to the company.
The new product will replace the MAA’s placement tests, which have been widely used and highly regarded by colleges and universities across North America. The new tests will be powered by Maplesoft’s Maple T.A., a powerful Web-based system for creating tests, assignments and exercises.
The MAA’s mission is “to advance the mathematical sciences, especially at the collegiate level.” For more information, visit its Web site. For more on Maplesoft, visit the company Web site.
