March 10, 2004—Maximum Performance Group, a provider of Web-based, real-time energy asset management solutions, has announced the nationwide rollout of its patented Energy Management and Control (eMAC) technology. This solution is the industry’s most comprehensive, Internet-enabled wireless technology designed to monitor, communicate, and control direct expansion HVAC systems, says Maximum. The company also offers a comparable unit for lighting systems and overall facilities energy monitoring.
Providing remote diagnostics and real-time energy management of packaged HVAC equipment, eMAC helps eliminate excess energy use, system failures, and costly system repairs, says Maximum, and it provides a foundation to address long-term energy issues with documented and validated results.
The eMAC controllers are installed at the customer’s facilities, connected between the existing thermostat and the HVAC unit (or lighting systems), and monitor over 140 points of systems operation on a typical package rooftop unit. These monitored points are then captured in real-time and broadcasted over a wireless paging network, connecting directly to MPG’s servers, where the data is then transformed for Web access.
Businesses with multiple locations now have the ability to remotely manage and control all of their buildings’ individual packaged HVAC or lighting systems from a desktop PC, using a standard Internet browser. The eMAC’s “PERC” technology continually optimizes system performance. It also comes equipped with a flexible schedule module that helps companies establish and monitor unit operating hours and contains intelligent operating algorithms which learn the rate of cooling or heating required to achieve the desired space temperatures, thus limiting compressor runtime within established limits.
Independent laboratory testing results as well as field measurement and verification demonstrate that with the eMAC solution and value-added services, customers can achieve system energy savings between 20-30% of operation and increase asset lifecycle by as much as 30-50%, says Maximum, a member of the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program. Additionally, maintenance cost reductions result in further savings of between $400-$900 per incident. For more information visit Maximum.
