April 9, 2004—The quiet operation of the McQuay GeneSys air-cooled screw compressor chiller (110 to 210 tons) minimizes background noise in schools, offices, apartments and hospitals without requiring sound attenuation. The chillers unique screw compressor (single main rotor/two gaterotors) is designed to be quieter than other screw compressors and is virtually vibration-free, further reducing transmitted sound. Sound pressure levels at 30 feet are as low as 67 dBA per ARI Standard 370.
Standard and high efficiency models offer exceptional operating efficiencies (up to 10.6 EER at full load and up to 14.0 EER at part load IPLV) to help reduce operating costs. MicroTech II direct digital controls with the Protocol Selectability feature allow easy integration into most building automation systems using LonMark, BACnet or Modbus communications without the need for costly gateway panels. Solid state starters are standard equipment for controlled acceleration and deceleration to minimize stress and vibration on compressors.
The McQuay GeneSys chiller operates with environmentally-friendly R-134a refrigerant, which has the best (A1) rating per ASHRAE Standard 34 (lower toxicity, no flame propagation) and no ozone depletion potential or phase-out schedule.
