Strengthening its global expansion, Meridian Project Systems (MPS) has entered the growing Korean construction market by signing an exclusive agreement with iBuilders, Inc. of Seoul, Korea. The agreement establishes iBuilders as the exclusive integrator of the MPS suite of products in Korea and provides a strong foothold in a market that is rapidly embracing project control solutions for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. iBuilders is one of the first companies in the Korean construction management/project management (CM/PM) arena offering project management solutions, online project, and construction information and news.
According to iBuilders, the Korean construction industry consists of approximately 6,000 general contractors, 40,000 subcontractors, 6,000 architecture design firms, and 800 engineering firms, and the need for CM/PM solutions is growing significantly. iBuilders estimates that in the beginning, the MPS Prolog applications will be purchased primarily by general contractors and used in intranet network environments. As for MPS’ Web-based solution, ProjectTalk.com, the growth potential is especially promising. The Korean ASP market is estimated to reach $300 million by the end of 2000, of which the construction market accounts for approximately 17 percent.
